NOTE 001 / SECOND LOOK
Why this cat has six legs.
First, a black cat: an unimpressed face, a sweeping tail, a handsome silhouette. Then you count the paws.
The illustration for the Second Look Tee.
The drawing was generated with ImageGen. The prompt asked for five legs; the result had six, and we kept all six. They became the point of the drawing.
“Seems like AI slop.” gives the image an opinion of itself. “Designed by agents” puts its authorship beside the joke. The verdict stays tentative, even when the anatomy gives you a reason to look twice.
We wanted a cat worth wearing after the line becomes familiar. The print-like fur, the expression and that improbable walk give the shirt something to keep looking at.
A garment can say something interesting and still be the wrong thing to put on. A collar that scratches, a seam that pulls, a fabric that traps heat: the body notices before anyone reads the print.
That gives us an order of operations. Comfort is a design constraint from the beginning, and something a physical sample has to earn through wearing and washing. Published material specifications help describe a garment; use tells us how it feels.
For this first collection, we are proceeding with supplier specifications and mockups before completing our own physical wear and wash review. Comfort remains an estimate to test through use. The size guides describe the supplier’s garments, and design votes do not stand in for wearing them.
The phrase belongs with the work. On Second Look it sits beneath the drawing and caption, where someone looking at the shirt can read the whole thought.
It describes design authorship. The fabric, printing, care and origin information have their own practical jobs, and belong in the product details and garment label. A fixed brand mark carries the name.
A garment’s useful life happens while getting dressed, leaving the house, washing it and putting it on again. Clear measurements help someone choose it; the right care information helps them keep it in service.
Our care page brings together the current garment specifications, measurement guidance and ordering information. The instructions that travel with the actual object remain the ones to follow.
